Robert Lvovich Diament was born on March 2 1907 in Kiev. At the age of 20 he started freelancing as a photographer for Kiev newspapers. In 1931 he became a photojournalist and moved to Moscow a few years later. His photographs were published in both Moscow and Central newspapers and magazines.
During the Second World War Robert was sent to serve the Norhern Fleet as að photo-reporter and later became head of the Photo Department at the Navy Political Office. He participated in many military operations whilst in the Northern Fleet.
After the Second World War Robert Diament worked for several magazines. He was a regular participant in and winner of union-level and foreign photo exhibitions. His photographs are still published in domestic and foreign books, magazines and newspapers. They are also displayed in military museums.
The exhibition will be at Hornsílið from July 7th-August 30th 2010.
